Evelyn and I visited Maine for a week in September, 2004. What a beautiful state!
We camped in Acadia National Park for the first three nights (in a tent), and then stayed at
a Bed & Breakfast in nearby Bar Harbor for the next three nights. We went hiking every day we were there. Hiking in Maine is, for the most part, more like mountain climbing (especially if you're from Delaware). Acadia National Park has over 120 miles of hiking trails, and 45 miles of "Carriage Roads" (built by John D. Rockefeller and the CCC in the 1930's and 40's). If you've never been to Acadia, I highly recommend it. We can't wait to go back! We took quite a few photos, so I've divided them up by places in the Park, which roughly correspond to our hikes and bike rides. The links on the right will take you to the photo pages. (They are listed in chronological order.) |
