Jewelry BoxThis jewelry box was a Christmas gift for my wife, Evelyn. It's constructed of primarily of cherry. The feet, the leading edge of the lid, and the miter 'keys' are made of walnut. |

| There
is a
removable tray inside that sits on a ledge, which increases storage
space. The bottom of the box and tray are lined with crushed
velvet. Installing the velvet lining is simple: cut thin cardboard inserts to fit the bottom of the box and the inside the six tray partitions, then wrap the velvet around each insert. Secure the material to the cardboard with tape or hot-melt glue. The fit is snug enough that no glue is required to hold the inserts in place, so changing them in the future would be easy. |

The
box is finished with several coats of super-blonde de-waxed shellac.
(I mix my own
from flakes, which is the best way to go. I
believe this was a 1.5 or 2 lb. cut.) On top of
that I applied a coat of paste wax. |
